Privacy Policy

🔒 ParentsVoice is committed to protecting your personal data. We collect only what is necessary, store it securely, and never sell it to third parties.

1. Who We Are

ParentsVoice ("we", "us") is an independent platform operated in India. Our registered contact: info@parentsvoice.in. We are the data controller for personal data collected through parentsvoice.in.

2. What Data We Collect

Account data: Name (derived from email), email address, mobile number (verified via OTP).
Children data: Child's first name and class (no sensitive or full identifying information).
Location data: City and state (entered voluntarily to personalise school recommendations).
Review & content data: Ratings, reviews, complaints, survey responses you submit.
Technical data: IP address (for security and fraud prevention), browser type, device type.
Communication data: Messages sent via our contact form.

We do NOT collect: Aadhaar numbers, PAN, financial information, or any government identity numbers.

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide the platform: creating your account, displaying your reviews, processing ratings.
To verify identity: your mobile number is verified once via OTP to confirm you are a genuine parent. It is stored securely and not displayed publicly.
To personalise experience: your city is used to show nearby schools.
To communicate: sending account-related emails, responding to your queries.
To ensure safety: IP addresses are logged to prevent spam, fake reviews, and abuse.
To comply with law: responding to valid legal requests from Indian authorities.

We do NOT use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

4. How We Store & Protect Your Data

All data is stored on servers located in India (Hostinger India infrastructure).
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot see your password.
Mobile numbers are stored encrypted.
All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption.
Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.

5. Your Rights Under Indian Law

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA) and applicable Indian law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data ("right to erasure")
- Withdraw consent for data processing
- Nominate a representative to exercise rights on your behalf

To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@parentsvoice.in. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use only essential session cookies required to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

reCAPTCHA: We use Google reCAPTCHA v3 on forms to prevent spam. This may collect technical data per Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

7. Third-Party Services

MSG91 (OTP verification): Your mobile number is shared with MSG91 solely to send an OTP. Subject to MSG91's privacy policy.
Google reCAPTCHA: Used on forms for bot prevention. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
ip-api.com: Used to detect your approximate city from IP for school recommendations. No personal data is stored by us from this lookup.

We do not use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, or any advertising networks.

8. Children's Privacy

ParentsVoice is intended for parents and adults aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. Child information (name, class) is provided by parents and is used solely to personalise the rating experience. Child names are never displayed publicly.

9. Data Retention

Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
Reviews & ratings: Retained as long as they are published. Deleted upon valid removal request.
Contact form messages: Retained for 12 months then deleted.
IP logs: Retained for 90 days for security purposes.

10. Grievance Officer

As required under the IT (Intermediary Guidelines) Rules 2021 and DPDPA 2023:

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify registered users via email for material changes. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
