The encounter of school children with a leopard at Marathi Camp has brought into focus the difficulties faced by children living in remote villages in the Malnad region, where human settlements and agricultural land are surrounded by forests and wildlife habitats

The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has asked schools in Noida and Greater Noida to restrict smart and digital board use after parents flagged prolonged screen exposure among students. Primary classes will have a 30-minute limit, while upper-primary students can use screens for up to 60 minutes daily. Schools must also promote breaks, traditional teaching methods, outdoor activities and regular eye checks.

Two school buildings have already been declared unsafe but are yet to be demolished, they said.

Despite a hospital being located barely 100 metres from the school, the family alleged that the administration did not immediately shift him for treatment.
